Description
Summary:The problems of ageing and stabilization of radiation cured unsaturated oligomers are discussed. Processes occurring in oligomer systems during polymerization and accelerated ageing under the action of UV light have been studied by ESR and IR-spectroscopy. Photochemical degradation of the polymer chain of oligomers by UV irradiation with formation of methacrylate radicals, oxidation of ester groups with formation of hydroperoxides and crosslinking through the double bonds were demonstrated. The possibility of introducing stabilizing additives into oligomer compositions at the stage of radiation curing without significant change in the kinetic characteristics of the process was shown. The introduction of the antioxidant Diaphene FP permitted a reduction in the free radical yield under conditions of photo-oxidative degradation of the oligomer and a retardation of the oxidation of ester groups.
