Summary: | The process of the transfer of binary solvent mixtures in low-density polyethylene has been studied. The partial coefficients of diffusion and permeability of the components of the mixture and the activities of the solvents in the polyethylene matrix have been determined. A theoretical analysis of the transfer of binary solvent mixtures has been made in terms of the theory of free volume and this has shown that it is possible to assess changes in and the behaviour of the diffusion characteristics in such systems on the basis of information about the values of the diffusion coefficients of the individual solvents in the matrix, the structural and phase parameters of the matrix and the thermodymanic properties of the system. |
