Summary: | A model of the post-radiation oxidation of polyolefines is proposed taking into account the influence of diffusion of O
2 into the polymer matrix and the chain oxidation of the polymer. Relations are obtained linking the number of paramagnetic centres in the irradiated system (polyenyl and peroxide radicals) with the post-oxidation time. The speed of advance of the diffusion front in the post-oxidation reaction is shown to depend closely on the permeability of the polymer and the initial content of polyenyl radicals. |
