Summary: | A refractometric method was developed for the analysis of chemical interactions of macromolecules in solution. Calculation formulae were derived for determining the degree of transformation using experimental results of the refractive index of the reaction mixture by a precision interferometer. The method proposed was tested experimentally using the interaction of polystyrene with polytrichlorobutadiene in nitrobenzene solution in the presence of aluminium chloride. The existence of several reactions was revealed and it was found possible to calculate kinetic process parameters at each stage. |
