Summary: | A theory was proposed for orientation ordering in polymer melts containing rigid and flexible fragments in the main chain. The study was conducted within the framework of a lattice model by a method which, being a generalization of the well-known Flory method, enables induced ordering of flexible fragments to be considered in the anisotropic phase. Phase diagrams were plotted and properties of liquid-crystalline transition examined for various flexibility parameters of flexible fragments. New effects were observed and it was shown that consideration of partial ordering of flexible chain segments in the anisotropic phase is necessary for the theoretical study of thermotropic liquid-crystalline polymer systems. |
