Summary:The phenomenon of inversion of the dichroism of absorption bands in the infrared spectrum, related to transition from orientation of domains to orientation of chains, during uniaxial straining of a polymer, has been considered. Features of the application of the orientation parameter for such studies are analysed. The various orientations of the transition moment, which are fixed in relation to the direction of axes of the rigid segment domain and the more general case of the differing orientations of some functional groups (for independent vibrations), have been considered. Various methods of presenting the experimental data on inversion of dichroism are discussed.
