Hydrodynamic and optical properties of polyamides with benzimidazole links included symmetrically in the chain
Forward diffusion, intrinsic viscosity and flow birefringence in acetic acid solutions have been investigated for polyamide benzimidazoles differing in the way in which the benzimidazole rings are incorporated in the molecular chain. It is shown that an increase in the proportion of benzimidazole ri...

Summary: | Forward diffusion, intrinsic viscosity and flow birefringence in acetic acid solutions have been investigated for polyamide benzimidazoles differing in the way in which the benzimidazole rings are incorporated in the molecular chain. It is shown that an increase in the proportion of benzimidazole rings oriented one to another in the “head-to-head” position from 2/3 to 1 does not give rise to any appreciable change in the equilibrium rigidity of the polyamide-benzimidazole molecules in solution or to the optical anisotropy of unit chain length. |
