Oxidative stability of polymer coatings based on polyamidoimides

It has been established that the process of oxidation of the polyamidoimides is complex and consists of two kinetic macroscopic stages. The first stage of oxidation 523–623 (PAI-1) and 593–673 K (PAI-2) is characterized by the phenomenon of “kinetic stop” of the process ensuing before the total cons...

Description
Summary:It has been established that the process of oxidation of the polyamidoimides is complex and consists of two kinetic macroscopic stages. The first stage of oxidation 523–623 (PAI-1) and 593–673 K (PAI-2) is characterized by the phenomenon of “kinetic stop” of the process ensuing before the total consumption of the oxidizing centres. At the second stage at a temperature above 638 (PAI-1) and 673 (PAI-2) K the process of oxidation is autocatalytic and is accompanied by heavy weight losses. From the results the authors propose a method for the preliminary evaluation of the minimal guaranteed time of stability of PAI-1 to thermooxidation which is particularly important in predicting the service times of polymeric varnishes based on polyamidoimides.
