A study of the polymerization of bicyclocarbosiloxanes by calorimetry and 29Si NMR
The polymerization of bicyclocarbosiloxanes has been studied. It was shown that siloxanes with terminal cyclotrisiloxanylethyl groups, unlike those with terminal cyclotetrasiloxanyl-ethyl groups may be polymerized in mild conditions, in presence of base-type initiators. Summary: | The polymerization of bicyclocarbosiloxanes has been studied. It was shown that siloxanes with terminal cyclotrisiloxanylethyl groups, unlike those with terminal cyclotetrasiloxanyl-ethyl groups may be polymerized in mild conditions, in presence of base-type initiators. The polymerization of bicyclosiloxanylethanes, containing six and eight membered rings at the same time, results in formation of three-dimensionally crosslinked polymers. Organosilicon compounds, possessing simultaneously cyclotri- and cyclotetrasiloxanyl ethyl fragments, depending on the structure and polymerization conditions, form either three-dimensionally crosslinked polymers or soluble prepolymers, which are crosslinked by polymerization under more severe conditions. |
