Summary:Polycondensation of organodisilazacyclopentanes, containing methyl, phenyl and benzyl groups at the silicon atom was examined in the presence of a catalytic amount of potassium metal or its hydroxide. Two systems were proposed for radical initiation and polycondensation, which are carried out according to the substituent at the nitrogen atom. It was shown that as the concentration of NH groups decreases and the concentration of trisilylamino-groups increases during polycondensation, the initiation mechanism changes.
