Hydrolysis of oligoacetal diols

The kinetics of the hydrolytic degradation of oligoacetal diols is studied. Hydrolysis involves a specific acid catalysis mechanism, mainly through the formation and subsequent decay of cycloacetals. The rupture of the C — O acetal bond of the oligoacetal diol chain is random, with an activation ene...

Description
Summary:The kinetics of the hydrolytic degradation of oligoacetal diols is studied. Hydrolysis involves a specific acid catalysis mechanism, mainly through the formation and subsequent decay of cycloacetals. The rupture of the C — O acetal bond of the oligoacetal diol chain is random, with an activation energy of 102·6±4·5 kJ/mole.
