Summary:The sulphonation of poly- p-xylylene by concentrated sulphuric acid in the presence of silver ions, chlorosulphoric acid, and oleum is studied. It is shown that the properties of sulphonated poly- p-xylylene and its spectral characteristics are markedly dependent on the degree of sulphonation. It is established from IR spectroscopy data that the kinetic curves for sulphonation of poly- p-xylylene films are S-shaped.
