Crystal size dependent emission from mobile exciton-polaritons in sodium cryptand sodide

Summary: | We present space- and time-resolved photoluminescence experiments which yield evidence for mobile optical excitation in sodium cryptand sodide. Small crystals show an emission line shape peak at higher energy than that from large crystals. An exciton-polariton dynamics model is used to obtain the rate equations which establish the polariton populations. These rate equations, which involve the Fokker-Planck equation, are shown to explain the crystal size effect and the time and energy dependence of the emission spectrum. |
