Description
Summary:Screening of the macroscopic electric field associated with longitudinal optical (LO) phonons by carriers in polar semiconductor nanocrystals is studied both theoretically and experimentally. A shift in the LO-phonon energy induced by electronic transitions from the ground state to the excited states of an electron confined in a nanocrystal is predicted. This result is in agreement with experimental resonant Raman spectra of CdS XSe 1−X-doped glass excited by intense picosecond dye laser pulses.
