Temperature dependence of the surface resistance and residual losses in YBCO (1 2 4) and melt-textured YBCO (1 2 3) HTSC ceramics at a frequency of 39 GHz

The surface resistance of ceramic Y 1Ba 2Cu 3O 7− x samples obtained by the melting technique and Y 1Ba 2Cu 4O 8 samples were measured within the temperature range 30–120 K. The techniques of manufacturing the samples are described. Measurements were carried out using the resonator method at a frequ...

Description
Summary:The surface resistance of ceramic Y 1Ba 2Cu 3O 7− x samples obtained by the melting technique and Y 1Ba 2Cu 4O 8 samples were measured within the temperature range 30–120 K. The techniques of manufacturing the samples are described. Measurements were carried out using the resonator method at a frequency of 39 GHz. The residual losses in melt (1 2 3) samples are below 10 −1 Ω which is much smaller than in the traditional ceramics. The residual R s for the best (1 2 4) samples is 0.9 Ω. The results are analyzed in terms of various theoretical models.
