Summary: | The role of absorption on the propagation of light in disordered binary multilayer structures is examined. Both localization (disorder) and dissipation (absorption) affect the wave propagation. The numerical calculations performed indicate that the inverse of the joint extinction length is a linear function of the imaginary part of the complex refractive index in a wide range of absorption values. An analytical expression derived in the context on an approximate method agrees well with the exact numerical results. |
