The influence of copper ions on fast surface states of germanium

The parameters of the fast surface states on a germanium sample of 14 ohm-cm resistivity, cut perpendicular to the (111) axis, were measured by the field effect method. The sample was first treated to remove its hydrophobicity and then subjected to a solution of Cu(NO 3) 2. It was found that the cop...

Description
Summary:The parameters of the fast surface states on a germanium sample of 14 ohm-cm resistivity, cut perpendicular to the (111) axis, were measured by the field effect method. The sample was first treated to remove its hydrophobicity and then subjected to a solution of Cu(NO 3) 2. It was found that the copper nitrate solution had little effect on the energy or density of the recombination center, but considerably increased its capture probability C p for holes. The results are discussed in the light of recent investigations on the germanium electrolyte interface.
