Description
Summary:DTA and TG techniques were used to measure the ignition temperatures and extents of reaction of nickel sulphide concentrates used as feedstock in flash smelting processes. The values obtained were dependent on the experimental conditions chosen. Under standardised procedures, the thermal properties of concentrates from different sources were measured, and indicated differences in ignition temperatures in the range 20–30°C and differences in extent of reaction of about 20%. These values are significant in terms of smelter operations.
