Thermochemistry for the formation of cysteinate complex of rhodium(III)

The stepwise formation constants, enthalpy and entropy changes for the formation of triscysteinato-Rh(III) chelate have been determined. A comparative study with α-alanine and 2-mercaptopropanoic acid confirmed the coordination of Rh(III) through the carboxyl and sulphydril groups of cysteine. The c...

Description
Summary:The stepwise formation constants, enthalpy and entropy changes for the formation of triscysteinato-Rh(III) chelate have been determined. A comparative study with α-alanine and 2-mercaptopropanoic acid confirmed the coordination of Rh(III) through the carboxyl and sulphydril groups of cysteine. The complex could be isolated in the pure form and characterised on the basis of elemental and thermal analyses, conductance, magnetic, infrared and electronic spectral studies. The complex was assigned an octahedral structure.
