Description
Summary:We report the resonance Raman scattering (RRS) spectra for single-layer and multilayer Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films. The films studied were prepared from a mixture of a cumylphenoxy-phthalocyanine derivative and stearyl alcohol. With RRS it was possible to probe the phthalocyanine macrocycle selectively without interference from the spectrum of stearyl alcohol or the cumylphenoxy substituents. Films on water and LB films transferred to several different substrates were studied. The RRS spectra support a film structure which includes stacks of phthalocyanine molecules which have the stack axes oriented so that only the bottom members of the stacks are in contact with the surface.
