Description
Summary:Copper tetrakis( n-butoxycarbonyl)phthalocyanine was found to be suitable for the construction of a Langmuir-Blodgett film with an extraordinarily high in-plane dichroism. The dichroic ratio of the as-deposited LB film at the Q band peak of the visible region was about 6–8, and it depended mainly on the width of the substrate. The ratio can be enlarged up to 16 by thermal annealing. The occurence of this dichroism can probably be ascribed to the highly preferential orientation of the stacking axis of phthalocyanine assemblies parallel to the dipping direction.
