Description
Summary:The synthesis by friction (tribosynthesis) of regularly self-oriented heterogeneous surface structure (ETS) was investigated. The structures observed consisted of regular lamellae of graphite embraced by dispersed particles of cubic and hexagonal (Lonsdalite) diamond. The tribosynthesis of graphite and diamond was realized by friction of metals in media of amorphous ultradispersed carbon or low-molecular hydrocarbons. The characteristics of the size and surface distributions of diamonds particles depend on the level of dissipating energy of friction. The mechanism of ETS is connected with non-equilibrium non-linear kinetic phase transformations. ETS is used to obtain coatings with high resistance to wear, seizure, corrosion and pitting.
