Highly rectifying organic two-layer diodes using the interface between 5-methyl-10-(4-methylbenzyl)- and 5-methyl-10-(4-methoxybenzyl)- 5,10-dihydrophenazines and lightly doped poly(3-methylthiophene)

Five dihydrophenazine derivatives, 5-methyl-10-(4- methlybenzyl-, 4-methoxybenzyl-, benzyl, 4-cyanobenzyl- or methyl)-5,10-dihydrophenazine ( 1–5), were vacuum evaporated onto the electrochemically prepared poly(3-methylthiophene) (PMeT) film to fabricate the organic two-layer diodes Au/PMeT/ 1–5/Al...

Description
Summary:Five dihydrophenazine derivatives, 5-methyl-10-(4- methlybenzyl-, 4-methoxybenzyl-, benzyl, 4-cyanobenzyl- or methyl)-5,10-dihydrophenazine ( 1–5), were vacuum evaporated onto the electrochemically prepared poly(3-methylthiophene) (PMeT) film to fabricate the organic two-layer diodes Au/PMeT/ 1–5/Al, which exhibited a clear rectifying effect. A larger current was observed when the gold electrode was positively biased with respect to the aluminum electrode. Dihydrophenazines 1 and 2, with the electron-donating benzyl groups substituted by the methyl and methoxyl groups, exhibited remarkable high rectification with rectification ratios of 120,000 at ±4.0 V and 12,000 at ±2.0 V, respectively.
