Description
Summary:THE CALCULATION of the supersonic flow round bodies with a break in the generator of the contour is of great practical Importance, since the presence of a break for a given radius of curvature of the nose section decreases the heat exchange near the braking point. However in calculating the flow round bodies with a sound break additional difficulties arise, connected with the appearance of a singularity at the break point. The zone of the turn of the flow around the corner point is in the region of mixed flow. The turn of the flow is accompanied by a sharp change in the velocity of flow both in magnitude and direction. In the supersonic region around the lateral surface of the body a “suspended” jump in the concentration may occur in the flow. In the present paper we solve the direct problem of calculating the supersonic flow round blunt bodies with a break which determines the position of the sound point on the body. Scheme II of the method of integral relations [1] is considered using the asymptotic solution of Vaglio — Laurin [2], refined and brought to a form suitable for computer calculation. Results of calculations of the flow round spherical segments are given ( k = 1.4, M∞ = 10).
