Description
Summary:The causes of the non-physical distortions of Lagrangian computational nets when modelling the flows of an incompressible viscous liquid with a free surface are investigated. A comparative analysis of a number of difference schemes for calculating planar flows is carried out. The problem of realizing the boundary conditions on the free surface is discussed and it is shown that failure to take account of the potential nature of external mass forces leads to serious distortions of the Lagrangian cells. Examples of numerical calculations are presented.
