Dynamic ion beam mixing of the chromium-stainless steel system by nitrogen ions

An experimental investigation of the microhardness is reported for ion beam-mixed chromium films on stainless steel substrates. A chemical analysis of the transition layer has been performed, and nitrogen and chromium atom profiles are presented.
