Summary:Derivatives of geldanamycin, hydrazones and oximes of geldanaldehyde analogous to rifampicin and its relatives in the rifamycin series, have been synthesized. The geldanamycin derivatives inhibited reverse transcriptase of Rauscher leukemia virus more strongly than did geldamamycin, and some were considerably less cytotoxic than geldanamycin.
