Description
Summary:Part 1 of this series presents successful results in implementing quadratic approximation programming for optimization of processes modelled with Monsanto's FLOWTRAN® 3 3 FLOWTRAN¶ is available through license arrangements with Monsanto Co., St. Louis, MO 63166, U.S.A. It is also available for academic use through CACHE Corporation, 3062 MEB, Salt Lake City, UT 84112, U.S.A. system. Detailed analysis of the computations indicates that the optimization of the approximate quadratic models provides one of the main computational problems. This paper describes some of these problems and our solutions, and indicates further improvements which should be investigated.
