Description
Summary:This paper deals with the formulation of the general Mixed-Integer Non Linear Programming problem, applied to optimal process synthesis, in a modular environment. In this environment, interest variables calculated by the simulator are implicit functions of the optimization variables (both continuous and binary). We propose a new formulation of the MINLP optimization problem to handle these implicit relations. This formulation is based on the introduction of “pseudo torn streams” and “pseudo variables”.
