Superoxide dismutase as a radioprotector

Radioprotection by superoxide dismutase is reviewed in terms of different radiobiological endpoints, sources of superoxide and the chemical reactivities of the radical. As well, biochemical and biological factors important to obtaining a radioprotective effect from the enzyme are discussed.
