Description
Summary:Observations of the solvation of electrons by methanol in methanol-2-methyltetrahydrofuran (MTHF) mixtures have been made at temperatures above and below the glass transition temperature. Results above the glass transition temperature are explained by a normal diffusion mechanism for solvation, whereas those at 77K are explained by electron tunnelling to methanol clusters. Observations of the solvation of benzophenone anions in these solutions support the above mechanisms.
