Description
Summary:The “Siton Hypothesis” (Costa Neto, Advances in Organic Geochemistry 1981, pp. 834–838. Wiley, Chichester, 1983) was further developed to discuss the effect of distance between reaction partners, for a simplified epimerization reaction site, on the rates of interconversion and equilibrium concentration of the reactants and products. As pressure is to be the principal physical parameter determining the distance among the reacting species, a survey was made in the literature dealing with pressure effect on geochemical reactions with the aim of describing the observed results in terms of the “siton hypothesis”.
