Summary: | Complete molecules detected in interstellar space were found to obey the rule of topological charge stabilization (TCS). For these interstellar molecules, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) belongs to the conjugated subsystem conforming to the TCS rule. This rule is not applicable to incomplete molecules such as free radicals and ionic molecular fragments. Possible candidates for interstellar molecules are proposed. |
