Inverse cascades and time-dependent dynamos in MHD flows
Inverse cascades resulting from non-linear alpha effect dynamo and hydrodynamic anisotropic kinetic alpha instabilities are interpreted in terms of heteroclinic connections between one-dimensional steady cellular solutions of the equations governing the large-scale dynamics. Summary: | Inverse cascades resulting from non-linear alpha effect dynamo and hydrodynamic anisotropic kinetic alpha instabilities are interpreted in terms of heteroclinic connections between one-dimensional steady cellular solutions of the equations governing the large-scale dynamics. It is further shown that the interaction of these instabilities can lead to periodic or chaotic dynamos after the inverse cascade has developed. |
