Summary:This paper presents a simulation method for estimating the throughput availability of a serially interdependent manufacturing system. The model has the ability to analyse, predict and suggest ways for enhancing the productivity of the system. It can be applied to systems with branching and converging process streams, recycling, and intermediate buffer storages. The model has been implemented in a real-life plant through a personal computer.
