Scintillating fiber hodoscopes using position-sensitive photomultipliers

We present some of the recent results of an R&D program on scintillating fibers readout by position-sensitive photomultiplier tubes. Considerable improvements have been achieved compared to the previous studies, in particular in detection efficiency (> 95%) and linearity. In addition, a detai...

Description
Summary:We present some of the recent results of an R&D program on scintillating fibers readout by position-sensitive photomultiplier tubes. Considerable improvements have been achieved compared to the previous studies, in particular in detection efficiency (> 95%) and linearity. In addition, a detailed study on two-hit resolution enabled us to confirm the possibility of reconstructing double-hit events in real-time by using the delay-line method.
