Description
Summary:Electron spectroscopy results of the growth of Dy films on copper substrates are presented. The aim of this work is to define the interfaces of the couple dysprosium/amagnetic transition metal. Such results will be of interest for the preparation of multilayer components. Layer-by-layer growth of dysprosium on Cu(111) and polycrystalline Cu was observed. On hot substrates (above 400°C) a plateau indicating alloy formation is observed. On the other hand, work-function changes showed a decrease of about 3 eV. Reactivity of the Dy films to oxygen reveald an increase of the Dy NVV Auger peak at 141 eV and the appearance of an electron energy loss at 26 eV in the d N / d E mode.
