Summary: | Thirteen subjects scoring high on Disinhibition (one of the sub dimensions of Sensation Seeking and measurable with a questionnaire) and 16 subjects scoring low on this personality dimension (HD and LD respectively) carried out a choice reaction time task, each trial consisting of an auditory warning signal (S1) followed by a visual imperative signal (S2). The design was aimed at finding an interaction of Disinhibition with one of several task parameters, supposed to affect a particular stage of information processing. Results support the conclusion that Disinhibition is significantly connected to the decision stage of processing. The absence of a relation with the early processing stage of encoding is ascribed to the fact that stimulus intensity was not manipulated in the present experiment. |
