Description
Summary:In the present report a new Ti(C,N) wear-resistant coating is described. It is shown that defined and reproducible Ti(C,N) coating qualities can be produced on an industrial scale using arc technology. A coating with a new property profile has been developed by combining the characteristics of the wear-resistant coatings TiN and TiC. The high efficiency of this new generation of coatings is illustrated using cutting processes as examples. Coatings with a complex structure based on Ti(C,N) are shown to have very promising potential for further development.
