Summary: | The estimation of the societal risk from a major hazard necessitates the determination of the density of the population around the site. Other information required on the population includes the proportion present at different times of day, the proportion more vulnerable to the hazard and the proportion outdoors. A methodology is presented for the estimation of the population density and for the determination of the other population characteristics. |
