Ultrasonic attenuation in titanomagnetite single crystals
Ultrasonic loss measurements on titanomagnetite single crystals are reported for temperatures between 130 and 520 K. Besides an acoustic loss peak at the Curie temperatures, two relaxation peaks at 140 and 190 K are related to electronic transitions between the iron ions. The broad relaxation betwee...

Summary: | Ultrasonic loss measurements on titanomagnetite single crystals are reported for temperatures between 130 and 520 K. Besides an acoustic loss peak at the Curie temperatures, two relaxation peaks at 140 and 190 K are related to electronic transitions between the iron ions. The broad relaxation between 400 and 500 K is due to the interchange of octahedral cations and neighbouring vacancies. |
