Comparison of linewidths for resonant Auger and normal Auger spectra
The linewidths in the 3p core excited states (3p 53d 104s 2ns) decay have been determined for Zn atom via an ab-initio model which takes into account both spin-orbit effects and the coupling between different Coster-Kronig continuum channels based on different double-hole LS levels. The results are...

Summary: | The linewidths in the 3p core excited states (3p
53d
104s
2ns) decay have been determined for Zn atom via an ab-initio model which takes into account both spin-orbit effects and the coupling between different Coster-Kronig continuum channels based on different double-hole LS levels. The results are compared to the linewidths measured and calculated for the normal 3p Auger process (3p core ionized states decay). By contrast with previous experimental results which point out an important decrease of the linewidth for the resonant Auger process relatively to the normal Auger process, the present calculations let us conclude that only a weak decrease is essentially due to the lower rate of the super-Coster-Kronig processes involved in the decay of 3p
−1 ns states into the 3d
−2 nsεf channels. |
