The reaction 207Pb(d, pγ o) 208Pb at 10 MeV

Proton-gamma coincidences in the 207Pb(d, pγ o) 208Pb reaction are observed. Two strongly excited states at 5.28 and 5.96 MeV, respectively are found to decay directly to the ground state of 208Pb. It is proposed that these states have J π = 1 −.
