A quantal treatment of octupole Coulomb-nuclear interference

A quantal DWBA calculation of Coulomb-nuclear interference, for excitations of arbitrary multipolarity, has been developed. Data for 208Pb(α, ′α) 208Pb (3 −) at 21 and 22 MeV are presented and analyzed. The theory fits these and other data well.
