lJ-dependence of the real optical potential near neutron threshold

The unique features of low-energy neutron scattering have been used to observe an lJ-dependence of the depth of the real volume optical potential near threshold for 208Pb + n. At E = 0.5 MeV the s- and d-wave potentials are ∼ 3 MeV deeper than those for the p waves.
