Quark mixing at finite temperature

We show that finite-temperature effects induce nontrivial quark mixing in the SU(2) × U(1)-symmetric phase of the standard model. The finite temperature mixing matrix is temperature-independent and is related to the zero temperature matrix V as V T = V † + O(λ 4), where λ ⋍ 0.22 is the sine of the C...

Description
Summary:We show that finite-temperature effects induce nontrivial quark mixing in the SU(2) × U(1)-symmetric phase of the standard model. The finite temperature mixing matrix is temperature-independent and is related to the zero temperature matrix V as V T = V † + O(λ 4), where λ ⋍ 0.22 is the sine of the Cabibbo angle. As a consequence, CP-violatating parameters in the symmetric phase differ in sign from their zero-temperature counterparts.
