Production of J/ψ following quark-gluon plasma formation

We discuss production of J/ψ following the formation of a quark—gluon plasma. Although suppression of the J/ψ in the vicinity of the plasma is expected as a consequence of deconfinement, charm quarks produced in a hot plasma could later coalesce to form J/ψ during the hadronization phase. Description
Summary:We discuss production of J/ψ following the formation of a quark—gluon plasma. Although suppression of the J/ψ in the vicinity of the plasma is expected as a consequence of deconfinement, charm quarks produced in a hot plasma could later coalesce to form J/ψ during the hadronization phase. Thermal production of J/ψ via this mechanism would become significant for a plasma with initial temperature above 500 MeV.
