Summary:New observables on the mesonic decay of light Λ hypernuclei with A=4 ( Λ 4H and Λ 4He) are directly measured by using 4He (K stopped −, π −) reaction: 1) The lifetime of Λ 4H is measured as 194 −26 +24 ps, 2) The π° decay branching ratio of Λ 4He is determined as 51.5±3.5%. Incorporating the results of bubble chamber experiments, partial mesonic decay widths of Λ 4H and Λ 4He are derived and they are compared with recent theoretical estimates. Our results favors ΛN interaction with inner repulsive core.
