Electret behaviour of solid ammonia observed in an ammonia beam maser

Solid ammonia is found to possess electret properties. These are studied by a neutral molecular beam method utilizing an ammonia maser operated with cooled focuser electrodes upon which thin films of solid ammonia are deposited.
