Calculation of elastic electron scattering cross sections for argon and krypton at low energies

Theoretical results are presented of angular distributions for electrons over a range of 40°–110° elastically scattered from argon and krypton at energies between 10 eV and 50 eV, obtained by using the X α-approximation including exchange terms in the scattering potential. Our calculations give a ra...

Description
Summary:Theoretical results are presented of angular distributions for electrons over a range of 40°–110° elastically scattered from argon and krypton at energies between 10 eV and 50 eV, obtained by using the X α-approximation including exchange terms in the scattering potential. Our calculations give a rather reliable prediction in the whole energy range, in contrast to the calculations of McCarthy et al. and of Walker, in particular at scattering energies below 25 eV. Our theoretical data are in good agreement with the experiments, especially the measurements of Qing et al. and Mehr.
